Hercus 260 bed regrinding--part No.5h1
Hercus bed exchange program,
260 models I sometimes have batches of beds reground and hold them in stock for exchange.
Tthe idea is to put the machine back into accurate working order, Chip marks on the ways, if substanial, may or may not be removed in the process.
To extend the life of the lathe bed, the material removed needs to be at a minimum each time, so deep marks, that don't effect proper operation may still remain.
these have been professionally done by John Tatum of Machine Tool Automation (MTA) in Sydney (Mona Vale) since 1968. You will need to contact John Tatum direct on 0415 601 518 if you want your existing bed done. This price doesn't cover that, so ask John for a price
and deal with him direct..
**********Please note**********
If you send your bed to John, the bed needs to be thoroughly cleaned and all fittings removed, including the feet. it should be boxed with an unscrewable lid and he will return it to you in the same box. Failure to do this will incur a very expensive packing fee, he's not paid to be a carpenter. Box dimensions for a 40 inch bed are:- 110cm X 20cm X 20cm and it should weigh about 39kg all up for freight quotes. This assumes 1/2 inch ply as the contruction material.
